무려 지하 700미터 속에서 한 달을 버텨낸 33인의 광부들! 그들은 칠흑 같은 땅 속에서도 침착함을 잃지 않았다. 자신들의 상황을 정확히 인지, 연장자를 중심으로 의료를 비롯한 각 분야를 분담하면서 스스로의 생존을 도모해온 것! 현재는, 구조과정에서 아주 좁은 크기지만 보급통로가 확보되면서 식품과 의약품 전달이 가능해져 한층 나은 지하생활을 할 수 있게 됐다. 구조대가 내려보낸 소형카메라로 세계인에게 인사를 건네는 것은 물론, 가족들과 화상통화까지 하게 됐다. “모든 분께 감사해요. 칠레인인 것이 자랑스럽고 광부라는 것이 자랑스러워요.”(매몰 광부) 기적을 바라는 것은 그들만이 아니다. 미 항공 우주국이 구조작업에 동참한데 이어, 38년 전 안데스 산맥에서 비행기 추락으로 72일간 고립돼 죽은 자들의 인육을 먹으며 살아남은 우루과이 전직 럭비선수들도 현장을 방문해 가족들을 위로했다. 전 세계의 이목이 집중 된 가운데, 과연 기적은 일어날 수 있을까?
