2010년 남아공월드컵, 뜨거운 6월이 다가온다!
월드컵개최국인 남아공과 우리나라는 연강수량이 2배 가까이 차이가 나지만
같은 물부족국가로 분류되고 있는데.. 납득하기 힘든 사실, 왜 그럴까?
원인은 물발자국 안에 숨어있다!
우리나라는 강수량이 많은 편이지만 정작 사용할 수 있는 양는 전체의 27% 뿐이다.
하지만 우리나라 사람들이 물이 부족하다는 사실을 인지하지 못하는 건
해외에서 물발자국을 수입해 사용하고 있기 때문!
물발자국이란 우리가 물을 얼마나 소비하고 있는가를 측정하는 척도로서,
그 나라에서 사용되는 모든 서비스나 상품을 만드는 데 소요되는 모든 물의 양이다.
예를 들어 커피 한 잔의 물발자국은 140리터로 여기에는 커피나무를 재배하는 물,
커피콩을 수확해서 세척 가공하는 물, 수출입에 필요한 물까지를 모두 포함한 것이
다.
실제로 우리나라는 세계 5위의 물발자국 수입국이다.
때문에 수돗물 외에도 다양한 방법으로 물과 제품들을 절약하는 일이 필요한 것!
수돗물 외에 물을 절약할 수 있는 방법은 무엇이 있을까?
부천시에서는 생활 하수를 정화해서 부천 시민의 강과 조경수로 사용하고 있고
수원 천일초등학교는 빗물을 모아 청소용수와 화단수로 이용하고 있다.
