전북 고창과 경계를 이룬 축령산 일대에는 50년생 편백나무와 삼나무 등의 상록 수림대가 조성되어 있다. 독립가였던 춘원 임종국 선생이 황폐화된 임야에 21년 동안 조림한 이곳은 전국 최대 조림성공지로 손꼽히고 있다. 이 나무에서 나오는 피톤치드가 스트레스는 물론 피부병 특히 아토피에 효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 축령산은‘치유의 숲’으로 불리고 있다.
