가난한 어린시절을 보낸 김용중 조리장.
1968년 충무로 라이온스 호텔에 입사해 서양요리를 배워 자수성가하겠다는 본인의 꿈을 갖고 최고의 요리, 최고의 위생, 최고의 서비스로 최고의 프로정신을 발휘하겠다는 목표를 세워 결국 이루어냈다.
프랑스와 일본에서 요리를 만드는 장인정신과 절약정신을 바탕으로 1985년 63빌딩에 입사, 총주방장을 거쳐 2006년 국내 최초 조리명장 1호가 된 그는 학생들에게 강의를 할 때면 항상 조리인의 기본자세를 강조한다.
또한 어려운 시절을 알기에 어려운 사람들을 돕기를 당부한.
평생 한 번 있는 본인의 회갑연과 해외여행을 뒤로하고 5년 동안 모은 500만원을 어려운 이웃을 위해 선뜻 기부하며
나눔을 실천하는 조리명장 김용중.
