보보스 - 디지털 시대의 엘리트
미국을 리드하는 보보스 문화, 한국에서도 시작된다
정보화 시대, 미국사회에 새롭게 등장한 신흥 지배 엘리트를 그린「보보스」.
2000년 미국에서 발간되자마자, "뉴욕 타임스" "워싱턴 포스트" "타임"
"abc" 등 미국의 주요언론과 TV방송에서 큰 반향을 불러일으키고, 보보'라는 신흥 엘리트 계급의 존재와 시대적 역할에 대한 깊이있는 토론이 이루어지게 한 책이다. 이 책은 올해 1월 번역 출간되어 우리나라에서도 큰 반향을 일으키고 있다.
저자 David Brooks는, 부르주아(Bourgeois)와 보헤미안(Bohemian)의 앞 글자를 따, 이 책의 제목이기도 한 'Bobos' 라는 신조어를 만들어 냈다.
'보보스'라 불리는 미국의 엘리트들은, 그 어원에서도 알 수 있듯이, 부르주아의 야망과 성공에 대한 집착, 보헤미안의 방랑과 저항과 창조성이라는 상반된 특성을 함께 가지고 있다.
사치품에는 돈을 아끼면서도 부엌을 고치는 데는 엄청난 돈을 투자하는 보보스. 근로자가 아니라 예술가처럼 일하는 보보스. 풍요로운 생활에도 과도한 소비는 하지 않는 보보스. 그들의 생활방식은 분명 전시대의 엘리트와는 확연히 다른 모습으로 나타나고 있다. 21세기 미국을 지배하고 있는 '신인류' 보보스의 출현과 그들의 삶의 모습을 꼼꼼히 설명해주고 있는 책,「보보스」를 화제의 책에서 분석한다.
또한「보보스」 출간 후, '보보스' 임을 자처하고 있는 한국의 새로운 엘리트들이 등장하고 있다. 이들 한국판 보보족을 만나 그들의 생활방식과 철학을 살펴보고, 그들의 한국적 보보스론을 들어봤다.

The Babos culture that leads the US begins in Korea.

We analyze book "bobos" which thoroughly explains appearance of "new person" bobos which dominates America of the 21st century and their life form in book of topic.
In addition, after the publication of "Bobos", new elites in Korea who are claiming to be "bobos" are emerging. I met these Korean Bo Bao people, examined their lifestyle and philosophy, and listened to their Korean bobos theory.
