김동수가옥

정읍 9경 중 6경.
흔히 아흔 아홉 칸 집이라고 부르는 전형적인 상류층의 가옥으로 원형대로 보존되어 오고 있다. 이 고가는 김동수의 6대조 김명관(1755～1822년)이 조선 정조 8년(1784)에 지은 집으로서 앞에는 동진강의 상류가 서남으로 흐르고 있고, 뒷편에는 해발 150여m의 창하산 (蒼霞山)이 둘러 있어 풍수지리에서 명당이라 말하는 전형적인 배산임수(背山臨水)의 터전에 세운 주택이다. 건물들은 행랑채, 사랑채, 안행랑채, 안채, 별당으로 구성되어 있다. 소박한 구조로 되어 있으나 건립자의 독창성을 엿볼 수 있고, 후세에 보수되거나 개조되지 않고 거의 원형대로 보존되어 있어 조선조 양반들의 생활양식을 엿볼 수 있는 중요한 민속자료가 되고 있다.

It is a typical upper-class house, often referred to as the ninety-nine house, which has been preserved in its original shape. This high price is a house built by Kim Myung-gwan (1755 ~ 1822) of Kim Dongsoo in the 8th year of Joseon Dynasty (1784), and the upper stream of the Dongjin River flows to the southwest in the front. It is a house built on the grounds of a typical backstory, which is said to be a famous place in Feng Shui. The buildings are made up of hanchae, hanchae, anhangcheon, anchae, and separate hall. It is a simple structure, but its originality can be seen. It is preserved in a circular form without being repaired or reconstructed in the future, and it becomes an important folklore material that can give a glimpse of the lifestyle of the Joseon dynasties.
