내성천을 끼고 자리잡은 경북 영주시 문수면 수도리의 무섬마을.
‘물 위에 떠 있는 섬’이라는 뜻으로, 내성천과 서천이 휘돌아 흐르며 회룡포와 함께 손꼽히는 ‘물돌이마을’이다.
외나무다리와 전통 가옥은 350년의 역사를 고스란히 보여준다.
그리고 이곳에서 평생을 보낸 이복순 할머니가 있다. 할머니에게 내성천은 어떤 곳일까?
내성천 ‘개밭(하천부지)’은 물 빠짐이 좋고 모래 속에 영양분이 많아 늘 농사가 잘 된다고 한다. 상수도가 들어오기 전에는 내성천 물을 길어다 먹었을 정도로 생활에 깊숙이 자리 잡고 있었다.
이복순 할머니를 통해 삶의 아름다운 기억으로 남아있는 과거 내성천의 모습을 짐작해 본다.

And there is Lee Bok-soon's grandmother who spent her life here. What is the place for my grandmother?
It is said that it is good to drain because of the water in the river. Before the tap water came in, it was deep enough to take the water out of the river.
I can imagine the past of Lee Seongseon that remains as a beautiful memory of life through Lee Bok-soon's grandmother.
