집이란 무엇인가. 어떻게 살 것인가.
삶을 담는 그릇인 집...
우리나라는 이미 전통 주거가 사라지고 그 자리에 서양식 주택이 들어선지 오래다.
때문에 간혹 길을 가다 우리의 전통 한옥을 마주하면 문득 그 안에서 살아보고 싶다는 생각이 들 때가 있다.
시원한 대청마루와 빛이 은은히 투과되는 창호. 그리고 처마 밑 풍경이 아름다운 한옥...
성냥갑 같은 아파트 건물에서 느끼는 답답함이 한옥에서는 한순간에 사라질 것처럼 느껴지기도 한다.
하지만 이미 지나친 편리함에 익숙해진 우리는 ‘한옥’이라는 두 글자에 ‘불편한 곳’이라는 생각이 앞서는 것도 사실이다.
이런 현대인에게 자연과 더불어 사는 멋과 조금 떨어져 관조하는 법, 또 천천히 살아가며 즐기는 법을 일깨우고, 과거의 한옥 속에 담긴 불편함을 빼고 우리 선조들이 창조했던 한옥의 문화를 재음미해본다.
