어리석었던 선택을 접고 다시 삶을 선택한 그는 다시 일어서기 위해 무엇이라도 해야 해야만 했다.
막노동, 퀵서비스등 닥치는대로 일을 했고 그의 아내 또한 식당일을 하며 부부는 조금씩 돈을 모으기 시작한다.
2001년 7월, 마침내 거리의 조그마한 노점을 임대하여 좋아했던 호떡을 팔아보자는 생각으로 호떡 장사를 시작한다.
그는 맛있게 먹었던 호떡을 잘 만들 자신이 있었다.
그러나.. 패기 넘치게 시작한 호떡장사는 순조롭지 않았고 재료상에서 받아쓰던 반죽은 손님들의 입맛을 끌지 못하며
매번 다 팔지도 못하고 남기 일쑤였다
하지만 포기할 수 없었던 그는 직접 호떡가게를 돌아다니며 반죽비법을 배우기로 마음먹는데..
