맥킨리 산(Mt. Mckinley)
알래스카 데날리(Denali) 국립공원에는 북아메리카에서 가장 높은 해발 6,194m의 맥킨리 산(Mt. Mckinley)이 있는데, 알래스카를 동서로 가로지르는 알래스카 산맥의 주 봉우리입니다. 알래스카 사람들은 원주민이 부르던 인디언말로 데날리(높은 봉우리)라는 이름을 고집한다고 합니다. 해발 6,194m 그러나 북극에 가까운 탓에 빙하와 크레바스, 살인적인 강풍으로 8,000m 봉우리보다 접근하기 더 어려운 산으로 꼽힌다. 한국인들에게 맥킨리는 (고)고상돈이라는 산악인과 떼어서 생각할 수 없다. 1979년 우리나라 사람으로는 최초로 맥킨리 봉을 등정하고 하산하다가 안타깝게 사망한 (고)고상돈 대원과 이일교 대원의 영혼을 달래는 기념비가 이곳에 있다. 타키트나 시내, 맥킨리 봉 경비행기 티켓 1시간 코스가 가장 저렴하고 1인당 15만원~30만원 (미화 150불~300불) 내외가 된다고 합니다.

In 1979, there was a monument to the Kohwangdon, who was the first Korean man to ascend and descend McKinwon, and who died unfortunately, and to remedy the souls of Lee Il-kyo. It is said that the one-hour ticket to the Kitchin, downtown and McKinley rods is the cheapest and costs between 150,000 won and 300,000 won per person (US $ 150-300).
