▶ 한국 방송 최초 현장 취재 "나선정벌의 전투지, 흑룡강"
중국대륙과 시베리아가 만나는 흑룡강. 그 곳에서 조선·러시아 연합군과 러시아 코자크의 전투가 있었다. 나선정벌의 치열한 전쟁이 있었던 흑룡강. 350년 후, 검은 강물이 흐르는 역사의 현장을 <한국사 傳> 제작진이 찾아가보았다.
▶ 치열한 전투 중, 신유의 감정을 토로한 기록,<북정록>
- 신유는 전쟁의 전개과정과 전투 기간 중 자신이 느끼는 감정에 대해 일기에 기록하였다. 1658년 4월부터 8월, 4개월간의 기록, 북정록. '망망한 대해를 보며 고국과 어버이 생각으로 흐르는 뜨거운 눈물', '뱃속에 오로지 도둑놈 심보만 가득한 청나라 호장' 등 북정록에는 청나라에 파병 온 수장의 심정이 고스란히 담겨있다.
▶ 맹위를 떨친 조선 조총병의 사격술!
- 17세기, 효종은 북벌정책을 추진하면서 군사력을 강화한다. 임진왜란 이후 조총을 끊임없이 개량하고, 전문적인 조총병을 양성한 결과 조선의 조총병은 청나라로부터 파병을 요청받을 정도로 뛰어난 사격술을 지니게 된 것이다.
17세기 세계 최고의 전투력, 코자크와 맞서다.
17세기, 러시아 남부에 용맹을 떨치고 있던 세력이 있었다. 코자크!
전투력이 강하고, 전쟁기술이 노련했던 이들은 1600년대 들어서면서부터 극동으로까지 진출해온다.
러시아의 주요 수출품인 검은담비 모피를 확보하고자 했던 것.
흑룡강 현지인들로부터 구원요청을 받은 청나라군은 코자크의 진지를 공격했으나 참담하게 연전연패를 당하고 만다.
화력의 열세를 절감한 청나라군. 곧바로 조선에 조총병 파병을 요구하는데...
그리고 200명의 조총병을 포함한 260여 명의 조선군을 이끌고 조선의 장수 신유는 원정길에 나선다.
1658년 6월 10일 흑룡강, 탁월한 사격술의 200전사를 이끌다.
신유의 조선군 260명을 비롯, 천여 명의 조?청연합군을 태운 56척의 배가 11척의 코자크 전함을 향해 항진하였다. 전투 초반의 포격전에서 승부를 내지 못한 두 군대. 그러나 뛰어난 사격술을 지닌 조선 조총병이 나서는 순간, 마침내 전투의 승패가 갈리기 시작한다.
200명의 조선 조총병이 나선정벌을 승리로 이끈 것이다.
신유는 왜 조선의 원수를 도와야만 했는가?
청을 돕기 위한 파병군의 장수로서 신유는 청나라 대장군 사이호달의 명령을 받들 수밖에 없었다. 사이호달은 병자호란 때 부원수로서 조선을 침공했던 인물. 신유는 조선의 원수가 내리는 명령을 좇아야만 했던 것이다.
당시 조선은 청나라를 치기 위해 군사력을 키우고 있었다. 치욕스러운 병자호란 이후 청나라에 볼모로 잡혀갔었던 효종. 그는 왕위에 오르자마자 북벌정책을 일생일대의 과업으로 내세우고, 조총병을 육성하기 시작한다.
병자호란 이후 청나라를 치기 위해 양성되었던 조선의 조총병, 그들은 왜 청나라를 도우러 간 것일까?
승리의 영광, 그리고 파병군의 장수가 느껴야 했던 비애
파병군의 장수로서 지휘권마저 빼앗기고, 전투가 끝난 뒤에도 군량미 지원 없이 강제로 청에 머물러야 했던 신유와 조선 병사들. 약소국의 파병군을 냉대하는 가혹한 상황 속에서도 신유는 러시아의 수석식 소총을 한 자루라도 입수 해오기 위해 애걸하다시피 해서 마침내 한 점을 입수하게 된다. 조선의 화승총보다 뛰어난 성능의 러시아 소총을 들여와 조선의 군비강화에 일조하고자 한 것이다. 러시아 함대의 전리품을 탐낸 사이호달의 오판으로 인해 부하 8명을 잃은 신유. 그는 조선의 법도에 따라 전사자들을 흑룡강가 언덕에 묻어준다.
350년 전, 수천 리 떨어진 흑룡강에서 목숨을 잃은 조선군사들. 흑룡강에는 아직도 그들의 무덤이 남아있을까?
