남지미동굴은 가장 최근인 2010년 발견된 동굴이다. 용암동굴이면서 석회동굴처럼 종유석과 석주 등이 발달해 주목을 받았다.
남지미동굴은 다른 동굴들이 전신주 교체 등 우연한 기회에 발견된 것과 달리 처음으로 과학적 조사에 의해 발견됐다는 의의를 가진다.
과학적 조사가 이뤄진 것은 인근에 당처물동굴, 용천동굴이 있어 그 동굴의 연장 가능성을 예측했기 때문이다. 남지미동굴은 당처물동굴과 연결되어 있는 형제굴이고, 용천동굴, 당처물동굴과 함께 월정리 해안의 삼형제 굴이라는 것이 밝혀졌다.
남지미동굴 종유석과 석주의 중심엔 많은 식물 뿌리들이 발견된다.
식물의 뿌리를 중심축으로 삼아 석회 성분이 수천 년 녹아내리며 성장한 것이다. 미미한 존재들이지만 살기위해 지하로 향한 뿌리와 탄산칼슘이 만나 신비한 ‘신의 궁전’을 만들어낸 것이다. 동굴은 살아 숨 쉬며 조금씩 자라고 있고, 그 동굴 위 모래언덕엔 나나니벌과 비바리뱀이 꿈틀대며, 돌담 너머엔 바람에 맞서며 사람들이 밭을 일구는 사람들이 있다.

Many plant roots are found in the center of stalagmites and stalagmites in South Nammi Cave.
With the roots of the plant as the central axis, the lime component has melted for thousands of years and has grown. It is a small existence, but it has created a mysterious 'palace of God' by meeting with calcium carbonate and roots going underground to live. The cave is alive and barely growing, and the nannibul and the bibari snakes are wriggling in the dunes above the cave.
