우리가 가정에서 흔히 사용하는 TV, 냉장고, 세탁기는 수명을 다하면 어떻게 처리될까?
우리나라에서 한 해에 발생되는 전자쓰레기는 무려 총 1700만대!
매년 증가추세를 보이고 있는 전자쓰레기는 각종 유독성 화학물질이 많이 포함되어 있어
소각하거나 매립시에 대기 및 토양, 수질오염을 일으키게 되는데...
하지만 이제는 폐가전제품에서 나오는 귀금속으로 인해 각광받고 있다는 사실!
폐컴퓨터와 폐휴대폰을 수거하여
그 안에 숨어있는 자원을 캐내는 친환경업체를 찾아가보았는데..
폐가전제품을 수거하여 각각 분해하여 재사용할 수 있는 부품은 부품대로, 플라스틱과 갖가지 금속으로 분류하는 작업을 거쳐
금이 붙어있는 기판만 따로 모아 추출해내면 금괴가 완성된다.
폐컴퓨터에서 나오는 금은 0.5g 정도로 7대면 금 한돈, 3.75g 이고 폐휴대폰 100대면 한 돈, 3.75g을 얻을 수 있다는 놀라운 사실!
가전제품 외에 자동차 또한 재활용율 98%을 보일 정도로 귀중한 자원이 된다는데.
차유리는 파쇄되어 다시 유리로 재활용되고, 범퍼와 램프 등의 부품은 재사용되며, 폐차과정에서 나오는 폐윤활유 또한 정제과정으로 거쳐 일반 등유나 경유로 재탄생된다는 자동차.
또한 타이어는 가루가 되어 놀이터의 완충재로 사용되며 모든 분리를 끝낸 차체는 압축하여 제철소로 보내진다.
광물자원이 점점 바닥을 드러내고 금속은 향후 50년을 내다볼 수 없을 만큼 빠르게 고갈되고 있는 요즘.
산업화로 인하여 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 폐가전제품과 폐자동차을 활용하여 현명하게 대처하는 방법이 필요하다.
