동강 형성의 비밀 석회암 동굴

장마철, 비가 오면 동강은 물이 빨리 불어난다. 강폭이 좁고 깊기 때문이다. 석회암 지대의 수많은 동굴에선 지하수가 쏟아져 나온다.
동강으로 흘러드는 물길이 오랜 시간 석회암 지대를 지나면서 형성한 크고 작은 석회암동굴 71개가 이곳에 있다.
석회동굴 중 대표적인 것이 천연기념물 제260호로 지정된 백룡동굴. 1976년 이곳에 사는 주민이 발견한 백룡동굴은 수억 년 동안 석회암이 물에 쓸리고 녹아내리면서 빚어낸 각양각색의 종유석과 석순을 품고 있다.
2010년 일반인에게 처음 개방되어 덕분에 손때 묻지 않은 석회동굴의 원형을 고스란히 간직하고 있는 백룡동굴을 통해서 다양한 동굴생성물이 보존되어 있는 암흑세계의 신비한 절경을 만난다.

Secret of the Donggang Formation Limestone Cave

 

In the rainy season, when the rain comes, the river flows quickly. This is because the river is narrow and deep. Groundwater pours out in numerous caves in limestone areas.

There are 71 large and small limestone caves that have formed over a long period of limestone flows along the Dong River.

A representative of the limestone caves is the Baekryong Cave designated as the National Monument No. 260. Founded in 1976 by residents here, the White Dragon Cave has a variety of stalactites and stalagmites that have been formed as limestone is washed and melted down for hundreds of millions of years.

Thanks to the first open to the public in 2010, I encounter the mysterious scenery of the dark world where various cave products are preserved through the Baekryong Cave, which keeps the original shape of the limestone cave untouched by hand.
